Rheinmetall has presented one of three Boxer CRV vehicles that will participate in the LAND 400 Phase 2 Risk Mitigation Activity (RMA) at the LAND FORCES 2016 exhibition in Adelaide.
Rheinmetall Defence has offered the Commonwealth the latest version of the Boxer 8×8 vehicle fitted with the in-service LANCE turret, featuring a growth path that includes a 35mm main gun and Northrop Grumman command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR) architecture, Rheinmetall stated.
The Boxer CRV displayed at the LAND FORCES exhibition is equipped with a 35mm main gun and the Spike-LR missile system from Rafael, and a local situational awareness system provided by Tectonica Australia.
While this particular vehicle has not been fitted with the Active Defence System (ADS) from ADS GmbH, one of the Rheinmetall vehicles destined for the RMA will have this ‘hard kill’ active protection system installed.
The vehicle on show at LAND FORCES will subsequently be equipped with another LANCE turret that is in a more advanced configuration, and it will be used for integration activities.
Rheinmetall’s other two RMA vehicles are due to arrive in Australia in early November, following lethality assessment and training activities in Germany.
