Thomas Global Systems welcomed Minister for Defence Industry Christopher Pyne to its 60th anniversary celebrations held in Sydney on December 6.
Minister Pyne officially launched a book called ‘Thomas Global Systems: 60 Years of Practical Innovation’, which details the company’s heritage, from its beginnings as a manufacturer of monochrome television picture tubes to its current capabilities as a manufacturer of cockpit display systems, armoured vehicle electronics and specialist defence systems.
“Thomas Global’s story is a remarkable one,” said Minister Pyne. “From its earliest days producing television sets, it is a company that has survived through high and low tariffs, competition from overseas, the rapid pace of technological change and the vagaries of various governments.
“Thomas has now diversified into many areas of defence and aviation production and maintenance, producing and servicing specialist displays, simulators and operator panels across the services. This book tells the story of Thomas Global, a uniquely Australian success story.”
Thomas Global chairman William Hutchinson remarked: “We were delighted to welcome Minister Pyne to celebrate with us as we marked our 60th year.
“The minister’s visit underscored Thomas Global’s achievements in the international aerospace and defence industry, of which we are proud. We look forward to continuing our journey, creating innovative and practical aviation and defence electronics for commercial and military operators around the world.”
