Retired US Navy rear admiral Stephen Johnson has been appointed as the new General Manager Submarines within the Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG).
RADM Johnson was director for undersea technology at the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) from 2003 to 2006, and director of strategic systems programs from 2006 to 2010, CASG stated on October 29. His sea last tour was as commanding officer, USS Chicago (SSN 721) from November 1992 until May 1995.
Since 2010, he has worked as an adviser to the US Department of Energy and NASA, and as vice-president and general manager of power and control technologies with DRS Technologies.
RADM Johnson is due to start work with Defence on November 4.
